I've lived in Montana since 1984, graduating from University of Montana with a B.A. in Botany in 1987. I spent two years in The Gambia, West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer. I'm a self-employed environmental consultant in Corvallis MT, and have a small farm producing vegetables, seed, pork and lamb. In 2000, I married the love of my life, Jamie Ogden, and in 2004, our daughter Rosalyn was born. My life currently revolves around my family and community. I enjoy hiking, camping, running, cross-country skiing and cooking.

There are so many great memories: Going to a drive-in movie with the Cooper sisters, Steve Jones and Kyle Oliphant in Kyle's Cougar convertible; running 20 miles with my buddy Steve one Sunday; piling tires in front of Coach Narrells' portable-buliding door and watching the confusion when class was over; going to church with Caroline Adams on TWIRP week; driving to Odessa with Townley to watch a football game; putting a lock and chain around Greg Bernius' car and winning my "war" with him.

And here's one I recently remembered-- When I was a junior, I was an aide for Coach Bain. One day he asked me to go to his house, pick up his dog, and take it to the vet. I can't remember why, but Stony Brown accompanied me on the detail. While in Coach Bain's kitchen, Stony and I noticed a note on the fridge to his wife Cathy. He signed the note "Love, Rock." (I can only speculate on the derivation of this nickname). We penned our own note on the fridge, addressed to "Rock" and signed by Stony and Rod. After returning to school and going to track practice, we were going through our stretches and exercises under our coach's watchful eye. At the end of the exercises we usually spelled out S-A-N-D--I-E-S, but that day, we spelled out R-O-C-K. Coach Bain's face got red and he walked off. Later he came up and said "Rod, I'm gonna do you a favor and forget you ever did that."
